Appointment Fees

We are a mixed billing clinic

Unfortunately, it is financially no longer viable to continue to provide high-quality medical service under 100% bulk billing for all patients due to ever-increasing operating costs, payroll tax and minimal support from the government.

We offer bulk billing for the following patient categories (given they have a valid Medicare card):

  • under 16 years of age
  • holders of valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Card (Centrelink-issued)
  • holders of valid Dept. of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Card

Patients without these concessions may be bulk billed at the discretion of the doctor.

We also offer bulk billing for some consults involving:

  • Health assessments
  • GP care plans
  • Mental health plans
  • Government-funded vaccinations (provided there are no additional medical matters discussed)
  • Follow-up appointments to discuss test results

You will be required to pay the full fee of your consultation on the day of your appointment. We accept payment by cash or EFTPOS.

Please note that for phone consultations, patients will be contacted by Reception to make payment over the phone or in person – our friendly staff will be happy to provide you with more information on this process.

To save your time, our practice is equipped with Tyro and Medicare Online. This system facilitates the billing process, enabling us to charge your patient account and directly submit your claims to Medicare, ensuring reimbursement of Medicare rebates to your account as promptly as possible.

Please ask Reception for any information regarding these rebate options, as well as private fees.

Patients without a valid Medicare card must pay the full fee and are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.

If your medical needs require more time or involve complex issues, we recommend scheduling a double appointment. For all other patients, a standard consultation will be sufficient.

Allied Health Service Providers

Some services may be bulk billed under a Chronic Disease Management Plan or a Mental Health Care Plan, however please speak to Reception for further details as private fees may apply even if you have the plans.

Appointment Cancellation Policy

Please do so at least 2 hours prior to appointment time or a no show/missed appointment fee of $50.00 will be charged.

FAQs

How do I pay for my appointment?

  • If you are bulk-billed, no payment is required. Otherwise, you will be required to pay the full fee of your consultation on the day of your appointment.
  • Fees can be paid by cash or EFTPOS.
  • The practice will submit any claim to Medicare on your behalf. Medicare typically pays the rebate within 24 hours.

Do you bulk bill?

We are a mixed billing practice, which means only some services and patients are bulk billed. At the same time, all GPs at our practice are independent practitioners who decide their own fees.

What is mixed billing?

Mixed billing means our practice charges a private fee for some consultations and patients, and bulk bills others. Bulk billing is when the payment for your consultation or treatment with your doctor is covered entirely by Medicare, whereas services not covered by bulk billing attracts a private fee and you will receive a rebate from Medicare. This means there is an out-of-pocket cost to you.

Why should I pay a private fee?

At our practice, we passionately believe in providing access to high quality healthcare to our community. By becoming a mixed billing practice, we are able to meet the rising costs of running a practice to minimise wait times, retain high quality GPs, provide valuable consultations and facilitate services like women’s health so that you and your family receive the healthcare that you deserve in a family friendly environment.
